  • Hulu Plus comes to Wii U

Video streaming service launches for Nintendo's new high-definition console with GamePad compatibility; requires $8/month subscription.

The Wii U may have launched without Nintendo TVii, but it does have Netflix support, and now Hulu Plus as well. The video streaming service has announced through its blog that its Wii U application is now available.

Hulu Plus for Wii U makes use of the system's tablet-like GamePad controller in multiple ways. First, users can use the controller as a second screen that displays supplemental information about shows being watched on the television. Secondly, Wii U owners can view video content on the GamePad itself in the same room or another, provided they stay within range of the Wii U console.
The Wii U's Hulu Plus app also includes the new Hulu Kids tab, which features more than 43 shows aimed at children.
Hulu Plus includes current-season programming from networks like ABC, Comedy Central, NBC, Nickelodeon, and Fox. The service requires an $8 per month (with limited advertising) subscription and is also available through PC, Internet-connected TVs, Blu-ray, players, and other gaming consoles.
