Set in Neo Tokyo, the city is under attack by enemy mechs. You must board your "Techno King" to protect it at any cost. And by protect it, I mean destroy it. Vlambeer's Rami Ismail explained this silly win condition to IndieGames.com, where he noted, "If you destroy everything, they can't destroy it." Of course this doesn't make much sense, but that didn't stop it from being the plot to Gears of War.
Rami explained that Techno King was a nod to the hilariously destruction-heavy Earth Defense Force series, where you end up demolishing most of the city you're assigned to defend. Techno King goes one step further and turns its buildings into destructible cover, so "the more you're winning, the less cover you have."
