Last month Nvidia announced that Shield, its Android-based handheld device that can stream PC games, would launch at $349. People complained that that was too high for something that looks like a five inch screen stuck to a third-party Xbox controller, so Nvidia has officially dropped the price down to $299 one week prior to its North American launch on 27th June."We've heard from thousands of gamers that if the price was $299, we'd have a home run," read a blog post on Nvidia's official site. "So we're changing the price of Shield to $299."
Those who pre-ordered will only be charged $299 when the platform ships.
