A new Transformers game is in the works, and it may not be what you expect. Hasbro and DeNA today announced Transformers: Battle Tactics, turn-based tactical combat game for iOS and Android devices. Scheduled to launch in 2015, Battle Tactics will be a free game, no doubt supported by in-app purchases.
Battle Tactics will offer up more than 75 classic Transformers characters, each with their own unique abilities, including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Bumblebee. The game's unique art style (see the trailer above) was inspired by the Transformers: Generations Combiner Wars comic book series.
In addition to an "expansive" single-player mode, Battle Tactics will offer up player-vs-player matches and other, various in-game events. The game also supports leaderboards so you can compare your progress and achievements with friends.
Another notable element of Battle Tactics is that it allows players to create a team of Decepticons and Autobots, which has never happened before in a Transformers game, DeNA says.
Battle Tactics launches next year for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices. You can sign up to receive updates and earn in-game content at the title's newly launched website.
