  • Go Behind the Scenes in This The Order: 1886 Video

Sony on Thursday released a new video for upcoming PlayStation 4 game The Order: 1886, offering a behind-the-scenes look into how Ready at Dawn built the game.
Titled "Bringing the Game to Life," the six-minute video features key developers at Ready at Dawn talking about the great lengths they went to in an effort to build a realistic-looking game. This was no simple task, the developers explain, as The Order: 1886 is set in Industrial Revolution-era London. However, the studio has previously explained that on occasion it favors style and impact over historical accuracy (the game, for example, features zeppelins in the year 1886, which predates the first such aircraft to fly).
"I am in awe that a game running on a home console can offer the player an audiovisual experience like The Order: 1886 does," Ready at Dawn chief technical officer Andrea Pessino said. "The technological barriers are crumbling, the scope of our imagination is soon to be the main limiting factor to realizing one’s vision. It is a great time to be making games."
The Order: 1886 undoubtedly looks great, but how does it play? GameSpot editor Mark Walton writes in a December preview: "From what I've played so far, these beautiful visuals are being married to some dull action." Read our full preview here.
Ready At Dawn's first PS4 project recently went gold, meaning production had concluded and the build was sent off for certification. Sony also recently announced pre-order bonuses for The Order: 1886, which include costumes and weapons.
The Order: 1886 release date is February 20. The game was previously scheduled to launch in 2014, but was one of many titles that slipped to 2015.
