  • What Is Assassin's Creed: Golden Age?

Publisher Ubisoft may have just accidentally revealed the name of an all-new Assassin's Creed game. As discovered by Xboxygen, a Ubisoft Graduate Program brochure features an image of two men looking over a spreadsheet for something called Assassin's Creed: Golden Age.
The spreadsheet also features "Characters" and "Locations" sections, among other things, though we can't make out anything specific. There is also what appears to be an image of a ship.
Assassin's Creed: Golden Age has not been announced by Ubisoft.
However, Ubisoft has used the phrase "golden age" before in reference to the "golden age of piracy," which is the time period of 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. One possible explanation for this image is that Golden Age was a working title for Black Flag.
Of course, this is unconfirmed. Others have suggested that Golden Age could be the final title for this year's current-generation Assassin's Creed game. Others still have speculated that it could be the name of a new Assassin's Creed game for last-generation consoles.
The image was clearly taken with Ubisoft's support and approval, as it's part of a recruitment brochure posted to the company's official website. Though Ubisoft itself has proved to be a leaky ship of sorts as it pertains to information about upcoming Assassin's Creed games, this appears to be an intentional act.
This would suggest that Golden Age is not actually a new game. GameSpot has followed up with Ubisoft for further clarification.
