  • PS4 Charity Campaign Offers Chance to Play Games With Celebrities

Sony on Friday announced a new PlayStation 4 charity campaign that gives users a chance to play games with celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Shaun White, all while supporting charitable organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the USO, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
PlayStation Heroes is the name of the new initiative. Scheduled to launch on February 24, Heroes is a free PS4 app that allows users to purchase digital content, with at least 90 percent of proceeds going to charity.
At launch, three charities are signed on to participate: Make-A-Wish, the USO, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research. In addition, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that it will donate $100,000 to each organization to kick things off.
The PlayStation Heroes PS4 app lets users find information about upcoming celebrity gaming events, watch videos, and earn badges. Though the app doesn't officially arrive until February 24, you can preorder it starting now. Doing so will give you access to new PS4 themes, available to buy for $1, $5, $10, and $15. Every dollar spent gives the buyer a sweepstakes entry for an upcoming Heroes gaming event in March.

This event will see Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White play Bungie's Destiny with fans to support the Make-A-Wish organization.
The Heroes campaign officially begins Friday evening in New York City at a special event featuring athletes such as White, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, and Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg will even perform at the event, but it's listed as private, so you may not be able to get in.
