  • No Plans for Witcher 1-2 HD Re-Releases

Polish developer CD Projekt Red said today at PAX East that it has no plans to re-release The Witcher or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in high-definition for new-generation consoles.
During the Q&A portion of a panel today, staffers said this was considered, but the studio ultimately decided it would be better to focus on its current projects, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
Sorry, anyone looking for a "Witcher Collection."
However, the CD Projekt Red developers did not completely rule out the possibility of bringing The Witcher and The Witcher 2 to new consoles someday, saying only that there are no current plans to do so.
Also during the panel, CD Projekt Red revealed that The Witcher 3 will not come with an official photo mode like the ones featured in The Last of Us and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Of course, the developer never promised this feature to begin with.
Though there won't be an official photo mode, players can still capture and share screenshots through the PlayStation 4's "Share" functionality and the Xbox One's screenshot tool, which will be released in March. PC players, meanwhile, can capture and share screenshots just like they've always been able to.
The Witcher 3 launches May 19 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
In other recent Witcher 3 news, Microsoft and CD Projekt Red have teamed up for a one-of-a-kind Xbox One system based on the game.
