  • Don't Expect More God of War PS4 Remasters, Sony Says

Last week, Sony announced God of War III Remastered, a 1080p/60fps PlayStation 4 version of the 2010 PlayStation 3 action game. Some wondered if Sony might also be planning to re-release other God of War games for PS4. But that's not in the cards, according to Sony.
"No plans for others in the franchise to bring over," Sony Santa Monica's Aaron Kaufman said on the PlayStation Blog in response to a fan who wondered if God of War 1 or 2 might be next.
Kaufman, a senior community strategist for Sony Santa Monica, also explained the general thought process behind bringing God of War III to Sony's new console.
"Remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5 years ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4," he said. "People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we'd like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, form generation to generation."
In addition to God of War III Remastered, Sony Santa Monica is working on a brand new, unannounced PS4 game. God of War II director Cory Barlog is working on this title, described so far only as "freaking huge."
God of War III Remastered launches July 14. It will be available at physical retailers and through the PlayStation Store for $40. For more on the upcoming game, check out some images in the gallery below.
