Actually, Halo 5's Campaign Co-Op Does Require Xbox Live Gold

As it turns out, you will need to have an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play Halo 5: Guardians' online co-op, Microsoft clarified this afternoon, following an initial report yesterday that said this would not be the case. That report was based on an interview that 343 Industries studio head John Holmes gave to Game Informer.
He now says in a statement that he got it wrong.
"I misspoke during the interview when stating that online co-op campaign would be supported with an Xbox Live Silver account," Holmes said. "Co-op campaign will require Xbox Live Gold to play."
Holmes went on to apologize to fans for the mistake and any confusion it caused. He also pointed out that Halo 5 will come with a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial to allow Silver account members to try online co-op.
Halo 5 will not offer local split-screen co-op, meaning the only way to play with friends online.
