Sony has disabled the ability to archive livestreams of its horror game Until Dawn on Twitch.tv.
According to multiple reports from users on Reddit and gaming forum NeoGAF, players that use the PlayStation 4's Share button to broadcast their gameplay on Twitch.tv will find their livestream is not automatically archived for on-demand viewing, as is usually the case.
Posting on Twitter, Twitch.tv explained the game's publisher, Sony, "has disabled archiving," and said it is "reach out to hopefully enable [archiving]."
Sony has not yet addressed the matter, but some have speculated the need to control spoilers for the game may be the reason behind the archiving prevention.
Until Dawn's experience is oriented around making decisions in key moments--some under the pressure of time constraints--and then following the resulting narrative. The game riffs off Hollywood's teen slasher flick genre, and follows a group of teenagers who find themselves trapped on a remote mountain getaway home with a nefarious outside presence.
Initially revealed as a PlayStation 3 title with motion controls via the PlayStation Move, Until Dawn was re-revealed in 2014 as a PS4 game. GameSpot's Until Dawn review awarded the game an 8/10 score.
"The choices you make in Until Dawn have more far-reaching consequences than in most other survival horror games," said our reviewer. "The butterfly effect feature it so heavily relies on is highly effective, adding weight to seemingly innocuous choices and creating a game that feeds deeply into player paranoia of making the wrong choice.
"Couple this system with the game's tongue-in-cheek exploitation of slasher film tropes--including over-the-top gore and flirty teenagers--and you have an enjoyable experience controlling your own '80s horror film parody."

It seems, however, this restriction only applies to PS4 share button streams, and those broadcasting using third-party capture cards such as an Elgato or Hauppauge, along with software like XSplit and OBS, are not affected.— Twitch Support (@TwitchSupport) August 26, 2015
