Square Enix has revealed Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, a game that will include a high-definition remake of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2. The news was announced at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference earlier today, as the official website for the game launched.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 will be coming to PlayStation 4 in 2016. The announcement confirms earlier rumours of a Kingdom Hearts 2.9, although the final title of the game differs slightly.
The most recent entry into the Kingdom Hearts series was Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, which was released in December last year exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game includes full high-definition remasters of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, as well as cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
The long awaited Kingdom Hearts III was first revealed during E3 2013, but Square Enix is yet to announce a release date. More recently, Square Enix confirmed that a world from animated film Big Hero 6 will be present in the game.
