  • StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Sells 1 Million in 24 Hours

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, the third installment in the StarCraft II trilogy following Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm, launched on November 10 and sold 1 million copies in 24 hours.
The game is offered standalone for $40, while a $60 digital deluxe edition is also available.
"Thanks for making the launch of #LotV a success!" Blizzard wrote on Twitter. "We'll see you in the Koprulu Sector, Commanders!"
Legacy of the Void's launch this week marks just the beginning for the game. As announced at BlizzCon last weekend, the expansion will be supported by series of single-player mission packs titled Nova Covert Ops. You can learn more about these in GameSpot's interview with Blizzard.
Looking further into the future, Blizzard has said StarCraft III could happen, though it will depend on fan feedback.
"What the future holds really depends so much on what we hear back from players. We love RTS, we love this genre," StarCraft II lead Tim Morten told GameSpot. "The StarCraft universe is fantastic; the Warcraft universe clearly has more stories that can be told. There are new Blizzard IPs; there's the potential to make completely new stories altogether. We want to hear back from our players what they would be excited about, but as a team, we've just been so busy finishing Legacy of the Void and teeing up this new content that we haven't had a chance to make any decisions."
