New 2DS systems themed around Pokemon are coming to Japan, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have announced.
The four retro-looking systems will come in yellow, red, green, and blue when they arrive on February 27, 2016. That's not a random date--it's the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series (via IGN).
The 2DS systems also come with pre-installed copies of the games their colors correspond to. In addition, you also get special stickers, a code to download Mew for the latest Pokemon games, and more--head to this page to get all the details.
Pokemon Blue, Yellow, and Red are coming to the 3DS eShop on February 27, Nintendo announced earlier this year during a Nintendo Direct video briefing. Players can trade and battle their Pokemon wirelessly; this was not possible for the original games, which required a cable for multiplayer functionality.
There's no word as of yet regarding if these special-edition 2DS systems will launch in North America. We'll have those details for you as they're made available.
