Weekly Recap: New Xbox One is 4X As Powerful, No Man's Sky Delay

Xbox One-Two
Multiple sites reported this week that Microsoft is working on multiple new consoles. The first of this, a slimmed-down Xbox One, could be announced at E3 and come out this year. The second, perhaps more interesting development, is that Microsoft is apparently planning new Xbox One that is 4X as powerful as the current model and beefier than the rumored PS4 Neo. Whoa. Not So Fast
Hello Games' ambitious-sounding PS4 and PC game No Man's Sky won't come out in June as previously expected. The game is coming along well, but some "key moments" needed more polish to bring them up to the developer's standards. [Full story]
New Heights
Sony has now sold a whopping 40 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide since the system went on sale in November 2013. Additionally, more than 270 million PS4 games have now been sold. [Full story]
Climbing Up the Sales Charts
Sony announced this week that its PlayStation 4 exclusive action-adventure game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End sold 2.7 million copies in its first week. That's a strong start, but it's well below the blazing fast start Uncharted 3 enjoyed in 2011. [Full story]

10,000 more Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector’s Editions went on sale on Monday. You guessed it, they sold out very quickly. Did you get your hands on one? If not, there’s still a chance, as these units are likely to end up on eBay in the future.
The Next Ones
According to GearNuke, Amazon may have revealed what games are coming to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program next. The site reports that Amazon pages for Dragon Age II Skate 2 Fight Night Round 4 Burnout Revenge Fable Anniversary Crackdown 2 Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit mentioned Xbox One support.
Cascadia
Fallout Cascadia is the name of an ambitious-sounding fan mod for Fallout 4. It aims to add more content than all of the Far Harbor DLC, and more. Only two screenshots have been released so far, however, so it seems like very early days.
It's Back
Eternal Darkness spiritual successor Shadow of the Eternals is back. After a first crowdfunding run came up short, Denis Dyack announced this week that he's revived the project.
1-2 More
Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski says he’d be up to make maybe 1 or 2 more games after LawBreakers. He made the comment in this hour-long interview with IGN.
Fanfest Is Back
Microsoft’s Xbox FanFest E3 event is returning for this year, and now, the company has provided all the important details about it in this Xbox Wire post.
Battlecast Blasting Off
Skylanders Battlecast, a Hearthstone-style card game that also has a physical card component, launched this week. You can get all the details about it here.

Polygon has a wicked cool feature up right now on the development of Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst. In it, EA executives talk about why the greenlit the project and what would have to happen for there to be a third game, among other things.

Lots and lots of new Pokemon Go screenshots were released this week. Additionally, the free-to-play game’s “field test” started this week in the US. See all the screens here, while you can sign up for the beta test here.
Mtn Dew + VR
Mountain Dew and virtual reality have finally come together. The soda company announced this week that it has created an Unreal-powered VR game for Oculus Rift.
"After putting on the VR headset, the viewer is seated and given an Oculus-enabled steering wheel," reads a line from the description. "The steering wheel is linked to the VR world, allowing viewers to steer their chosen car on the racetrack."
Here's a 360-degree YouTube version. Pretty cool.
The City is a Character
2K Games released a new trailer for Mafia III this week that spotlights the crime game's setting, New Bordeaux. This is a creative interpretation of New Orleans, and the developers say in the video that they consider the city to be a character unto itself.

Brothers Comes to Android
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, one of 2013's best games if you ask me, launched this week for Android devices. Now until June 1, you can get it for only $3--it normally sells for $5. The game is already available on iOS devices.
