All the Hardware We Saw at E3 2016 (Day Two)
Continuing our hardware coverage from the E3 show floor (click here to check out the tech we saw from day one), we came across a ton of game controllers, VR headsets, a plethora of gaming headsets, and more.
Vuzix iWear
Also seen on the previous slide, this is the goggle-side of the Vuzix iWear. The head-mounted display is capable of VR, with its two stereoscopic lenses, but it also aims to work with any system that has an HDMI out. We got to check out Epic's Showdown VR demo on it running from a PC, but we also got to play Super Mario Kart running on a Super Nintendo via an HDMI converter. Playing Nintendo's old-school kart racer on it felt like we had a floating TV attached to our face. The device also has integrated headphones.
PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR Gun Controller
The PlayStation VR Gun Controller provides 1:1 shooter controls for shooting games like Farpoint. You can read more about it here.
Plantronics Rig 4VR
Piggybacking on the PlayStation VR hype, Plantronics is making a VR headset that's designed for Sony's head-mounted display. The ear cups provide room for the bulky HMD. Plantronics says it also provides directional audio and has a short cable that hooks up directly to the headset.
Plantronics Rig 400HS
Plantronics also designed a new headset for non-VR uses. Dubbed the Rig 400, the cans come with 40mm drivers, features a noise-cancelling boom mic, and will come in Xbox and PlayStation variants.
Gears of War 4 Elite Controller
The Gears of War 4 Elite Controller is based on the $150 Xbox Elite Controller. Thought that was expensive? Well, the Gears of War 4 version will retail for a staggering $200. To be fair, both this controller and the Elite controller do come with extra bells and whistles that allow you to swap out the control sticks and D-pad. PDP Wired Controllers
Because not everyone can spend $200 on a Gears of War 4 controller, PDP wanted to make an Xbox One controller that appealed to the frugal crowd. These controllers here will retail for a much more affordable price that starts at $20.
Afterglow Prismatic Controller
Retailing for $50, the Afterflow Prismatic Controller is for those who want glowing controllers that can also change color. You can also remap the controller's bindings on the Xbox One using PDP's Afterglow software.
PDP Themed Xbox Controllers
PDP also makes some themed Xbox controllers. At the top, there's the Battlefield 1 controller. To the left is the Mirror's Edge variant and to the right is the Titanfall version.
PDP Titanfall Headset
PDP also makes a Titanfall headset. One feature that makes this headset unique is that it has extra vibrators that rumble when loud sound effects go off.
PDP Scalebound Headset
This headset might look familiar if you've been following the game Scalebound because it's the same headset that the protagonist of the game, Drew, uses.
Gran Turismo Seat
This awesome seat which shows off Gran Turismo isn't actually for sale, but with its Thrustmaster steering wheel and integrated PS4/TV, it's still pretty darn cool.
8Bitdo Giant NES Controller
This giant NES controller isn't for sale either, but it's awesome because its huge and it works. Here we see someone playing Mario Bros with it.
