Here's What Star Trek Is Doing at Comic-Con for 50th Anniversary
The Star Trek franchise, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is coming to San Diego Comic-Con in a big way.
CBS (which owns GameSpot) today announced a lineup of events, the biggest of which is a headlining panel on Saturday, July 23, starting at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. This panel, called "Star Trek: Celebrating 50 Years," will see veteran actors such as William Shatner and Scott Bakula "reflect on a remarkable half-century and look forward to the franchise's future."
This panel will take place in the gargantuan Hall H, though it's unclear if it will be streamed. Other panelists include Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager), and Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation).
Hosting the panel will be Bryan Fuller, who is the executive producer of CBS' new Star Trek show that will air on CBS All Access in 2017.
There are five additional Star Trek panels scheduled for Comic-Con, one of which is called "Star Trek: The Roddenberry Vault." As part of this panel, attendees will get to see previously unreleased clips and photos from the original show's "most beloved episodes." Rod Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, is one of the panelists.
Another panel, "Trek Talks: Star Trek & NASA Boldly Go," will feature NASA astronaut Kjell Lindgren and others talking about how the Star Trek shows and movies have made an "indelible impact to NASA."

The next Star Trek movie, Star Trek: Beyond, comes out later this month. Anton Yelchin, who plays Chekov, recently died in a freak accident. His co-stars have spoken up to remember him.
In other news about the Star Trek series, Ubisoft's virtual reality game, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, comes out later this year for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.
