Harry Potter Spinoff Fantastic Beasts Adds Mad Max: Fury Road Actress
With just three months to go before Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them comes to theaters, it's now been confirmed that Mad Max: Fury Road's Zoe Kravitz has joined the cast.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Kravitz, the daughter of singer/songwriter/actor Lenny Kravitz, joined the Harry Potter spinoff after production began. She reportedly has a "small role" in Fantastic Beasts, but there is a chance she'll have a larger part to play in the 2018 sequel.
Kravitz also appeared in the the Divergent series and will be seen in HBO's 2017 show Big Little Lies with Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Resse Witherspoon, and Shailene Woodley.
Fantastic Beasts stars Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a "magizoologist" who embarks upon an adventure to find and document magical creatures in 1920s New York.
The movie has been adapted by J.K. Rowling from her own 2001 novella, which is set some 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter stories. David Yates, who made the last four Harry Potter movies, is directing, and Redmayne's co-stars include Colin Farrell, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, and Samantha Morton.
Fantastic Beasts will be released on November 18, 2016.
