  • Team Chiefs Win League of Legends OPL Final

The League of Legends Oceanic Pro League final wrapped up over the weekend, with Australian team Chiefs taking out first place 3-0 over opponents Legacy.
The win will see the team head to the International Wild Card Qualifiers in Sao Paolo, Brazil, where they will represent the Oceanic region. At the IWCQ the team will face off against Brazil, Commonwealth of Independent States, Japan, Turkey, South East Asia, and Latin America for a spot on the world stage.
The OPL final was hosted at The Courier-Mail Piazza in Brisbane in front of a live audience, with the event livestreamed online and at cinemas across Oceania. This marks the second time Chiefs have emerged victorious in the region, having secured first place in the previous OPL season and heading off to the International Wild Card Invitational in April.

The 2016 International Wildcard Qualifiers will run August 24 until September 4. Teams will play in a round robin format during the group stages, with playoffs conducted as a best of five. The teams who place in the top two spots will qualify for the 2016 World Championship.
