  • WWE Suspends Another Wrestler for Violating Wellness Policy [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] WWE has announced the suspension of woman wrestler Paige. She's barred from WWE events for 30 days, starting August 18. It's worth noting that Paige and Del Rio share a romantic relationship. The original story follows.
Alberto Del Rio is the latest WWE performer to get suspended over a wellness policy violation. He'll miss 30 days of WWE events starting tomorrow, August 18, the company announced.
WWE's wellness program covers everything from cardiovascular and brain function testing to substance and drug abuse. It's not known why Del Rio was suspended, though we'll keep you updated on any news that may come of this situation.
This follows Roman Reigns' suspension in June, which resulted in one of WWE's top stars missing a month of television appearances. It's also not clear why Reigns was disciplined, though he felt the need to apologize to fans on Twitter for his "mistake."
"I apologize to my family, friends, and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy," Reigns tweeted. "No excuses. I own it."
Del Rio has a checkered past with the WWE. In 2014, he was fired from the WWE for "unprofessional conduct" after he got involved in an altercation with an employee who allegedly made a racist joke at Del Rio's expense. He wrestled in other organizations such as AAA, Ring of Honor, and Lucha Underground before returning to the WWE in 2015. He defeated John Cena and won the United States Championship on his first night back.
