Jazzpunk is a very weird game, full of bizarre jokes and references, and it was originally released on PC back in February 2014. Today, developer Necrophone Games announced that Jazzpunk is also coming to PS4 on September 20.
Alongside the release date, Necrophone also published a wacky new trailer for the PS4 version, called Jazzpunk: Director's Cut. The video is completely absurd, full of full-motion video and a strange cartoon of a naked man in a cowboy hat, one of the characters in the game. It only briefly shows off the game, but it does give you a pretty good idea of its tone. Check it out in the embed below.
Jazzpunk: Director's Cut adds a bunch of new content, including some that was cut from the original game. Necrophone hasn't said what this content will be, exactly--in a post on the PlayStation Blog, co-creator Jess Brouse explained, "We've always been a bit leery about giving away too much info as to what our new content may entail."
However, Brouse described the PS4 version as having even more comedy and absurdity than the original release. "Suffice to say, our Jokes-Per-Minute meter is at an all time high," Brouse wrote. "Some of the new content was resurrected from our faithful cutting-room floor, while others tidbits were decompressed fresh, straight out of our Brain.zip files!"
In addition, the Director's Cut also adds a multiplayer mode to the game. According to Necrophone, it's a wedding-themed deathmatch mode that supports split-screen play with up to four people. You can see the mode in action at the end of the trailer.
Jazzpunk was originally announced for PS4 at PlayStation Experience last year. There's no word yet on the price of the game, but it'll be available on the PS Store beginning on September 20. Back when it first released on PC, GameSpot gave it a 7/10. You can read our full review here.
