Update 2: It looks like all of the issues involving EA games and services have been sorted out, according to an EA tweet. There's been no official word on what happened, though there was some speculation that the problems were thanks to the efforts of hackers, a group of which claimed responsibility. At least for now, though, things are working as intended.
Update: It appears numerous EA games, not just the Battlefield 1 beta, are experiencing today's issues. A number of individual games have reported problems, and the EA Support Twitter account said in a message, "EA is currently experiencing an outage. EA games, services, and support may be impacted. We're working to resolve as fast as possible."
Original Story: With the Battlefield 1 beta opening up to all players today, the game is experiencing server issues for a large number of players.
After a fairly smooth rollout yesterday, the issues began popping up today as a much wider pool of people were allowed in. Players are unable to connect to EA's servers, presenting them with the screen seen below that reads "Failed to connect to EA Online." Being an online-only multiplayer beta, that is, suffice it to say, a major problem.
A number of us on GameSpot are running into the issue on both Xbox One and PC. (We've also run into a related issue where matchmaking fails.) This has spawned a lengthy thread on the Battlefield forum thread with people reporting they are unable to connect on all platforms, including PS4.
Responding to a tweet about all of this, the official Battlefield account said, "We've had some other reports of that. It's being investigated." We'll report back once we receive more information.
The Battlefield 1 open beta officially begins today after yesterday's early access period. As of yet, no date for when it will run until has been announced.
