Upcoming slasher-cross-shooter game Shadow Warrior 2 now has a scheduled release date of October 13 for PC, publisher Devolver Digital and developer Flying Wild Hog announced today. A new trailer has also been dropped, which you can watch below.
The game will be available via Steam, GOG, and Humble for $40. Customers who pre-order will get a ten percent discount off the original price and earn the exclusive Razorback chainsaw katana. In addition, owners of Flying Wild Hog's previous games Shadow Warrior and Hard Reset Redux will earn an additional ten percent off the pre-order price as a "thank you for being a ninja from the start."
Shadow Warrior 2 was first announced in 2015. The game is a direct sequel to 2013's Shadow Warrior, which itself was a reimagining of the 1999 game of the same name. Shadow Warrior protagonist Lo Wang has returned for the sequel, which continues the story from the previous game. Shadow Warrior was positively received in GameSpot's review, earning a 7 out 10 for its well-executed humour and high-energy, colourful shooting action.
Earlier this year, we spoke to writer and narrative designer Slawomir Uliasz about the game's comparisons to Doom, the challenges of writing jokes that align with the game's trademark humour, and more.
