The first of two beta tests for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare began today, but for many, the game remains unplayable due to matchmaking issues.
Activision acknowledged the problems on Twitter and said it's investigating them but provided no timeline for when things would be resolved. A quick look through the account's replies reveals countless complaints from players reporting they are unable to get into a match. We were planning to livestream it earlier today, only to be unable to get into a game ourselves. Some of those in GameSpot's office were able to find games, but only briefly.
As this is a beta, problems were to be expected. Frustrating as these would be anyway, they're arguably worse in this situation because many people preordered the game specifically in order to access the beta.
This weekend's test is limited to PS4, while next weekend's will include PS4 and Xbox One players. (There are no plans for a test on PC.) The first beta is scheduled to run until Monday, October 17 at 10 AM PT. There's no word yet on whether that end time will be pushed back if these problems persist.
We'll report back as the situation develops.
