  • New Star Wars Rogue One Video Showcases Alien Creatures

Ever since the Cantina sequence in the original Star Wars, alien creatures have been a vital part of the blockbuster franchise. The upcoming spinoff Rogue One looks to be no different, as the latest behind-the-scenes video reveals. Check it out below:

As the video shows, the movie's creature effects are largely physical, as opposed to the heavy use of CGI in the Star Wars prequels. Last week, director Gareth Edwards revealed that Star Wars creator George Lucas had visited the movie's set while it was shooting. According to Edwards, Lucas made a self-deprecating joke about how Rogue One would benefit from lots of CGI.
"He joked a lot about how we should do more in the computer, and not build so much," Edwards said. "We didn't take his advice. We tried to shoot as much in-camera as possible."
On a more serious note, Edwards said it was "surreal" to meet with Lucas and show him, the creator of the series, a Star Wars movie that he did not work on. "Like, that was really crazy," Edwards said.
The director went on to say that he "felt for [Lucas]" in this situation, going on to say that Lucas was "incredibly gracious" during his visit.
A number of other clips and teasers from the movie have appeared over the past few days. This one shows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) talking about her blaster, while this promo focuses on Andor himself.
Rogue One hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
