  • Man in the High Castle Renewed for Season 3

Amazon's The Man in the High Castle has been renewed for a third season.
The company also confirmed today that Eric Overmyer is joining the show as an executive producer and showrunner. He has a long list of credits to his name, including The Wire and Law & Order, as well as multiple Emmy nominations.

Overmyer joins The Man in the High Castle following the unexpected departure of showrunner and executive producer Frank Spotnitz last year. According to Deadline, Spotnitz clashed with Amazon over production decisions for the drama.
Season 3 will premiere in 2017, though a specific date was not announced. Seasons 1 and 2 of the drama are currently available to stream through Amazon Prime Video.
The Man in the High Castle is based on the 1962 Philip K. Dick novel of the same name and takes place in an alternate universe where the Allied forces lost World War II.
"As timely as ever, the exploration of characters at a dark point for humanity has provided incredible stories for two seasons," Amazon Studios head of comedy and drama Joe Lewis said in a statement. "Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not. We couldn't be more excited to bring Season 3 to customers in 2017."
The Man in the High Castle Season 1 premiered in January 2015, with Season 2 debuting in December 2016. Season 2 had the most viewers over its debut weekend than any other scripted Amazon original series, the company said. Some of Amazon's other original series include Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle.
