  • First Images From Warcraft Director's Futuristic Sci-Fi Thriller Revealed

The first images from Warcraft director Duncan Jones' new sci-fi movie Mute have come online. Released by Netflix, the pictures show off main character Alexander Skarsgard, a mute bartender, as well as the creepy surgeon characters played by Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux.
Mute takes place in 2052 Berlin. Here is the plot description, via Netflix:
"Set in the near-future, Leo (Alexander Skarsgard) is a bartender living in the pulsing city of Berlin. Because of a childhood accident, Leo lost the ability to speak and the only good thing in his life is his beautiful girlfriend Naadirah (Seyneb Saleh). When she vanishes without a trace, Leo's search for her takes him deep into the city's seedy underbelly. A pair of wise-cracking American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux) are the only recurring clue and Leo is forced to take on this teeming underworld in order to find his love."
According to Jones, Mute is influenced by Blade Runner and Casablanca. He wrote the script alongside Sherlock Holmes writer Michael Robert Johnson.
Intriguingly, Jones has said Mute is in some way tied in to his well-received 2009 sci-fi thriller Moon. The movie is scheduled to arrive on Netflix this year. It's been a long time coming, as Jones has been working on Mute for more than 12 years.
In other news, Jones, who said in the past that he has ideas for two more Warcraft movies, recently said he has no idea if he'll get to make them. Jones also shared some plot details for the sequels.
