  • Become Spider-Man With New Oculus VR Prototype Gloves, See Them Here

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently documented his trip to the Oculus Research lab in Redmond, Washington. One picture from his gallery shows off something we've never seen before, virtual reality gloves that let you do a number of things, including shoot webs from your hand like Spider-Man. Here's a picture of Zuckerberg doing just that, with a big grin on his face.
"We're working on new ways to bring your hands in virtual and augmented reality," Zuckerberg said. "Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider-Man."
Zuckerberg also shared a picture of an "anechoic chamber"--Oculus' second one--that is used to conduct sound experiments. He claims that when the chamber is finished, it will be so quiet that you can hear your own heart beat. Another image shows Zuckerberg standing alongside manufacturing technicians wearing full-body containment suits. The picture shows the Facebook founder peering into a room where some kind of machine filters out particles 1000 times smaller than a speck of dust.
You can see all the images in the gallery embedded in Zuckerberg's post below.

The Oculus Research Lab is led by former Valve engineer Michael Abrash. According to Zuckerberg, it "focuses on things like advanced optics, eye tracking, mixed reality, and new ways to map the human body."
He added: "The goal is to make VR and AR what we all want it to be: glasses small enough to take anywhere, software that lets you experience anything, and technology that lets you interact with the virtual world just like you do with the physical one."
It remains to be seen if the Oculus glove controller will become a real product that the company eventually sells. Oculus already has its own unique-looking Oculus Touch controllers.
In other Oculus news, Facebook is closing hundreds of Rift pop-up stores across the US, supposedly in response to a lack of interest at some locations. Also, Oculus was ordered to pay $500 million to ZeniMax as part of a lawsuit over the Rift.
