  • New Scarface Movie's Script Being Worked On By The Coen Brothers

Big news for the Scarface reboot today, as Universal has hired Joel and Ethan Coen to polish the film's script, according to Variety. The movie will open on August 10, 2018.
Earlier this month, the untitled reboot lost its director, Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). A replacement has not been announced, but Variety says Universal is close to finding a new director.
The Coen brothers also worked on the script for the Steven Spielberg movie Bridge of Spies and Angelina Jolie's Unbroken. The last movie they directed was 2016's Hail, Caesar! Some of their other movies include The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men, Fargo, and Raising Arizona.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Star Wars: Rogue One actor Diego Luna will play a lead role in the untitled Scarface remake. The new movie will take place in modern-day Los Angeles, focusing on a Mexican immigrant. The 1932 original and the 1983 version starring Al Pacino also told immigrant stories, though those movies took place in Chicago and Miami, respectively.
Prototype developer Radical Entertainment released Scarface: The World Is Yours in 2006, which served as a follow-up to the 1983 movie. No plans for any new games have been announced, however.
