  • Halo Wars 2 Physical PC Version Canceled In The US, Still On For Europe

Halo Wars 2 will not be available in a physical PC version in the United States. Developer 343 Industries has announced that the US release has been canceled, though nothing is changed for Europe.
"Our retail plans have shifted and Microsoft has made the decision to focus the release of the physical retail version to Europe only," 343's community manager, Brian Jarrard, said on Halo Waypoint.
In January, Microsoft announced a partnership with THQ Nordic for the physical version of Halo Wars 2's PC edition. In the statement, Jarrard said THQ Nordic is a "great partner;" the company continues to work with THQ Nordic to "ensure this transition remains smooth for our customers."
"We apologize to any customers affected by the change in our retail plans, and thank everyone for the continued support as we look forward to the release of Halo Wars 2 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC," Jarrard said.
THQ Nordic and Microsoft previously teamed up for Quantum Break's Timeless Collector's Edition and Ori and the Blind Forest's Definitive Edition.
Halo Wars 2 will be available on Xbox One physically and digitally around the world; nothing is changing on that front.
In other Halo Wars 2 news, 343 has confirmed that there will not be map-making tools and revealed the game's complete list of achievements.
Halo Wars 2 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. That means if you buy it digitally on Xbox One or PC, you'll receive access to the game--and all saves and progress--on the other platform at no extra cost. The game launches on February 21, though people who buy the $80 Ultimate Edition can start playing on February 17. That's the date that a Halo Wars 2 Xbox One S bundle goes on sale.
