  • Ocean's 8: Matt Damon Shares New Details About His Cameo

At the end of last year, actor Matt Damon revealed that he has a small cameo role in the upcoming heist movie Ocean's Eight. Now, the actor has revealed a little more about his part.
Speaking to Collider, Damon started off by confirming that he has not filmed the scene yet. He added that "it's just quick; a little cameo." Pressed for more details, Damon said, "I'm there for exposition."
Presumably, Damon will be playing Linus Caldwell, his character from Ocean's 11-13. Whether the characters played by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Julia Roberts also appear in the new one remains to be seen. It is unclear what connection there is between Ocean's 11-13 and Ocean's Eight, though if Damon is playing Caldwell, it might mean that the films exist in the same universe.
Also in the Collider interview, Damon praised Ocean's Eight director Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) and added that he's excited about the movie.
"We're all about girl power," he said. "We want to see what these ladies do."
Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original trilogy, is a producer on Ocean's Eight.
The new movie stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson. The film is set in New York, and the Met Gala is the target of the movie's central heist. The first image was released earlier this month and is embedded above.
Ocean's Eleven earned $450 million worldwide. While the two sequels weren't quite as successful, they all proved to be considerable box office hits, helping the franchise gross more than $1.1 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.
    Ocean's 8 opens on June 8, 2018.
