  • Sea Of Thieves Servers Down For Maintenance On Xbox One, PC

Sea of Thieves' Xbox One and PC servers will be down for around five hours today, developer Rare has announced. This is so the company can roll out the pirate game's latest update, which aims to fix a number of issues.
Maintenance begins at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and is scheduled to run for approximately five hours, concluding at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST. During this period of time, Rare says the game's servers will be offline, so you won't be able to play Sea of Thieves at all, as it requires an internet connection even if you're adventuring solo.
The update aims to fix a number of issues players have encountered since launch, such as temporarily missing items and weapons, performance issues on Xbox One X, and not receiving entitlements such as the Black Dog pack. Other problems, such as missing rewards, delayed Achievements, and connectivity issues, are still being worked on, Rare says. In the meantime, the company has disabled Achievements, with the aim of re-activating them by the end of this week.
Rare has also announced it is canceling its planned change of introducing a death cost in Sea of Thieves. The developer had planned to charge a small amount of in-game gold for each time you died, but this has now been canned following fan feedback.
