Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones, has apparently completed her last day of filming for the show's eighth and final season. In a post on Instagram, Williams said "goodbye" to Arya and Game of Thrones overall, and Belfast where she was filming.
"What a joy I've had. Here's to the adventures to come," Williams wrote.
Perhaps more intriguing were the hashtags that Williams used in her message. These included #lastwomanstanding and #barely. Does this mean Arya will be the "last woman standing" in the events of Game of Thrones? And what does "barely" mean? Whatever the case, we're expecting Season 8 to wrap up her character's story arc and others.
Emilia Clarke (Daenarys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister) have also finished filming their Season 8 scenes. It is possible some of the actors will be called back for re-shoots, however.
Back in February, Williams said she was among the very few people to know how Game of Thrones ends. To protect the secret of how the show ends, HBO is reportedly shooting multiple endings so that even the cast is unaware of how it ends.
There will be six episodes in the final Game of Thrones season. We don't know their titles yet, but HBO has announced who will be directing them. And while six episodes may not sound like many, every episode in Season 8 is reportedly as long as a movie.
The Game of Thrones franchise is will continue after the main show wraps up. In June, HBO ordered a pilot for a spinoff that is set "thousands" of years before the mainline show.
In other news, Game of Thrones TV show creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are working on a new series of Star Wars movies for Disney.
