The board game Dungeon Twister is making its videogame debut on PS3 next week, Sony has announced.
Developer Hydravision Games has joined forces with Christophe Boelinger, the board game's creator to adapt the source material into a turn-based strategy game on PSN.Described as "a mix between chess and Dungeons & Dragons," Dungeon Twister places players in control of eight unique characters on a tile-based gauntlet where they must compete for points to amuse a mad immortal arch-mage. Each character has special abilities such as being able to rotate rooms, pass through walls, open locked doors or regenerate health. There are also potions that grant extra turns, fireball spells or unlock shortcuts.
Whereas the board game supports up to four players, the videogame will only support one-on-one matches. "The board game can also be played up to four players, but on a console it becomes quite long to wait for your turn. So the two player-option was the good beginning for the video game," said Boelinger in reply to a comment on the US PlayStation Blog.
