You don't necessarily need to cross off the Asus Taichi dual-screen Ultrabook from your holiday wishlist, but if making such a list, you may want to add a few backup items. The reason? Asus has decided to delay U.S. shipments after previously being made available to pre-order on popular e-commerce sites like Amazon and Newegg. Now it's anyone's guess when the hybrid laptop will arrive.
TechnoBuffalo claims to have confirmed with Asus that the Taichi is delayed and that the company hopes to have shipments ready in December, but that it could be longer. The reason for the delay is unknown.
The Taichi is another unique Windows 8 device, this one for the fact that it features two 11.6-inch touchscreen displays. Asus bills it as the fusion of a notebook and a tablet, in that the double-sided IPS display allows you to switch between either mode quickly and easily. It's also fairly well equipped with an Intel Core i7 3517U processor, 4GB of DDR3-1600 memory, 128GB or 256GB solid state drive (SSD), Intel HD Graphics 4000, Wireless-N connectivity, and various inputs and outputs (including USB 3.0 and HDMI).
