  • 3DMark for Windows 8 Scheduled to Launch February 4

There will be four different versions of 3DMark, one each for Windows, Windows RT, Android, and iOS.

Futuremark is nearly finished putting the finishing touches on its new 3DMark benchmark for Windows, which it plans to release on Monday, February 4. It will be one of four different versions, as Futuremark is planning to launch 3DMark builds for Windows (including Windows 8), Windows RT (for ARM-based systems), Android, and iOS. Releases dates for the other three versions are not yet known at this time.
"There is more work and testing to be done on the Android, iOS, and Windows RT versions, but we are aiming for a short gap between releases, think weeks rather than months," Futuremark stated in a blog post.
The new 3DMark will use a combination of in-app features and online web services to break down the performance of your hardware. It will also report on GPU and CPU temperatures, as well as CPU power and clockspeed during the benchmark run, Futuremark says.
You'll also be able to interact with the graphs that it spits out, such as honing in on a specific point in time to see what the peak temperatures looked like.
