Here's an interesting nugget Nvidia dug up to support its latest upgrade promotion. According to the latest Steam hardware survey, 36 million gamers don't own a strong enough graphics card to play World of Tanks, Hawken, or Planetside 2 at 1920x1080 with High settings. The reason Nvidia chose to focus on those three free-to-play (F2P) play titles is because it's offering $75-$150 of in-game credit when you upgrade to a qualifying GeForce graphics card from a participating vendor.
If you purchase a GeForce GTX 650 or 650 Ti, you'll receive $25 codes for all three games, giving you a total of $75 to play with. Those who upgrade to a GeForce GTX 660 and up will receive $50 in all three games, for a total $150 of in-game credit.
"Today’s top free-to-play games are more advanced than ever before. In fact, shooters like Hawken, World of Tanks, and PlanetSide 2 are among the most graphics-intensive and immersive games available," Nvidia says. "Now you can get everything you need to experience them at their best—and a little extra."
Be sure to reference Nvidia's list of authorized vendors before upgrading, provided you're stoked about in-game credit to begin with. You can redeem your in-game currency code on a separate page.
Nvidia's bundle is a little weak compared to AMD's Never Settle: Reloaded promotion, in which you can score between two and six triple-A titles with the purchase of a qualifying Radeon card. Still, it's better than nothing, right?
