  • Bill Gates is Fielding Questions on Reddit

Billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates jumped into an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit.

From cheap thrills (like cheeseburgers) to unreleased products, the man himself, Bill Gates, billionaire founder of the world's largest software company, is right now answering user questions on Reddit. There's still time to jump into the AMA (Ask Me Anything) session if you have a burning question of your own, but you'll have to ask fast, as he's already been in there for about an hour.
One of the first questions he was asked was how he feels about the open source movement, considering Microsoft mostly deals with proprietary software.
"There are two things this could reference. One is the free/pay for software mix," Gates said. "The Internet has benefited from having lots of free stuff and lots of commercial software. It has been interesting see people inventing hybrid models. Even stuff that is pretty commercial often has free versions for some audiences. Even the most open stuff often have services people choose to pay for.
"The second thing is the anonymous versus identified tension," Gates added. "This is another one where both will probably thrive since you want anonymity for some things and full identity for others. I am surprised how little progress has been made in the identity space but it will improve."
Gates tackled a variety of other inquiries, such as which unreleased product or service he wishes would have made it to market, and what people give him for his birthday now that he's beyond wealthy (answer: books, his favorite being Pinker's Better Angels of Our Nature).
Have a question of your own? Hop in there and ask!
