Is the Transformer AiO a moderately sized all-in-one (AIO) system or a ginormous tablet PC? The answer is both! Asus today introduced what it claims is the world's first AIO PC with a detachable display, and to the best of our knowledge, it truly is. The detachable IPS panel measures 18.4 inches and features a Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, LED backlighting, and 10 points of capacitive multi-touch.
As a desktop system, the Transformer AiO wields an Intel Core i5 3350P processor, 8GB of DDR3-1600 memory, 1TB SATA hard drive, Nvidia GeForce GT 730M graphics, 802.11a/b/g/n dual-band Wi-Fi, GbE LAN, four USB 3.0 ports, a single USB 2.0 port, 3-in-1 memory card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI output, and Windows 8 64-bit.
Pop the screen off and you have a giant Android 4.1 tablet powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage. It also retains the built-in dual-band Wi-Fi and has a single mini USB 2.0 port, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone / mic jack, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR, and a docking port.
The Transformer AiO will be available in early Q3 starting at $1,299.
