Google Readies Thinner Nexus 7 Tablet for July Release

Another Nexus 7 tablet is just around the corner.

One of the rumors floating around the web today is that Google is planning to launch an upgraded version of the Nexus 7 this summer (specifically, in July). The next generation Nexus 7 is said to feature a thinner bezel and a higher resolution than the current model, which wields an IPS panel with a 1280x800 resolution.
The rumor originates from Reuters and the two sources it spoke with, and unfortunately, they didn't provide specific details on the resolution upgrade. Might the next Nexus 7 tablet sport a Full HD 1080p panel? We'll just have to wait and see.
What the sources did say, however, is that Google decided to go with Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoC (System-on-Chip) rather than Nvidia's Tegra 3 silicon to power its second generation Nexus 7. Google apparently chose Qualcomm over Nvidia for "power reasons," and if that's true, it's a big loss for Nvidia.
As for pricing, that has yet to be determined, though it's likely Google will stick with the same price points as its current Nexus 7, which ranges in cost from $199 (16GB, Wi-Fi only) to $299 (32GB, Wi-Fi + Cellular).
