SteelSeries Siberia Elite Headset Debuts After Three Years in the Making

SteelSeries, one of the players in the gaming peripherals market, introduced its new Sibera Elite Gaming Headset at GamesCom in Colgone, Germany this week. The company tells Maximum PC that this headset is three years in the making. That was enough time for SteelSeries to develop next-generation drivers with "new layers of sound and power that we've yet to have in a pair of cans," as well as implement 7.1 virtual surround sound via Dolby Pro Logic IIx.
"First introduced in 2004, SteelSeries’ Siberia headset brought together amazing audio quality with first-ever features like a self-adjusting suspension design and circumaural earcups to the market. The headset quickly became popular amongst gamers with its outstanding quality and performance as well as caught the attention of DJ’s and musicians, appearing in popular videos and in places that expanded even beyond our core gaming audience," said Bruce Hawver, SteelSeries CEO. "Siberia is recognized today as one of the fastest growing and highly rated line of headsets by consumers from around the globe. Marketing hype aside, the Siberia Elite feature a self-adjusting suspension system connected to a sandblasted steel arc. The headset illuminates with a choice of 16.8 million color options. It also has extra large memory foam ear cushions with dials to power the headset's audio microphone mute controls.

SteelSeries also introduced its Engine 3 software suite. Built from the ground-up, SteelSeries Engine 3 allows you to create unlimited game-specific audio profiles with equalizer presets for gaming genres, adjust illumination settings, and more.
The SteelSeries Siberia Elite runs $200 MSRP and will be available to pre-order in September.
