I have not been able to play RtCW for 2 motnhs now because my RtCW game is lagging too much! I have gotten BF1942 for christmas, my Video card did not work for BF1942, so we went to Best Buy to get a new video card for my computer. At first we grabbed a RADEON 9700 non-PCI. We got home, and deleted some stuff just like it said and then we went to put the card in and we found out that our computer is a PCI. So we had to go back to Best Buy and get a different Video Card, they didnt have any PCI RADEON's so we grabbed a e-gEforce4 mx 420 64 mb sdr PCI. We got home and decided that we should have Best Buy put in the card since we have never done so.
They put in the card, and before all of this I uninstalled RtCW. Anyways, we got home. I played BF1942 for a lil bit, reinstalled RtCW and RtCW was lagging big time. But be4 all this I had no lagg, ping always in the 60's etc.
BF1942 does not lagg and I have ping in the 60's.

Hmmmm, then it sounds like a config or registry problem and not a PC problem.

What operating system are you using?

When you uninstalled it, did you delete the RTCW directory too?

Hey man, Try getting a GeForce mx400 64MB card. This cards work great....

It may be a config issue in your wolfconfig_mp.cfg file..

I assume you have DSL or cable...

Try adjusting some of these:

com_hunkmegs ---> make this up to 3/4 of your RAM

rate ---> make this 25000 if you have DSL or Cable

packetdup ---> make this value a 1

cl_maxpackets ----> try 30

snaps ----> try 40 or 60

com_maxfps ---> I have mine set to 43. There is no longer an advantage to having a high FPS rate in the game..movies are shown at 30 FPS, so it doesn't make sense any longer to utilize resources to draw 90 FPS...43 also is a "magic" number that allows you to jump a bit further.


you can make adjustments for all of these while you are playing the game...just use the console and put a /seta in front of each command. I recommend you use the following commands while you make adjustments:

/cg_drawfps 1 ---> shows the current frames per second

/cg_lagometer 1 ---> shows how good your connection is.

once you get your configs in order you can turn these off by putting a 0 instead of a 1 at the end of the commands.

the com_hunkmegs setting does require a restart..

Also, make sure that once you get the settings you want, copy your config file into all of your folders (Main, Shrubmod, OSP, and any other mod folders you may have)...It's also a good idea to maybe save that file on a floppy as well..

Ken is right...here..try my autoconfig file..Test this and see if it helps..keep in mind my hunkmegs are set high because i have 512 ram & also keep in mind i have cable.. btw, this goes in the "Main" folder.(same place you have your maps) Be sure to save your original autoconfig file just in case...Just copy and paste this on yours...

No, the registry is that magical place inside most Micro$oft OS'es where... well, you prolly don't want to know what goes on in there.

Its best just to stay away from it.

lagging is where the game really slows down due to internet connection
or video lag caused by low fps(frames per second)
