Well since this is the only forum and place where i express my view i thought i would let you all in on my life at the mo.
2 years ago my best freind of 23 years (since birth) decided that he would take his life!
Andrew Paul lanzenby was a raging acholhic, a drug adict and i full time no job waster! most off off all he was my only true friend!
from a early age it was appernt andrew was diffrent, but too me he was andrew always was ,always would be.
Anyway on the 7th of march 2001 (andrew's birthday) he seen fit to take his birthday money and buy a massive overdose of metherdone, to most in the area it seemed fit for a low life to die of drugs, but for me and the other few friends he had it was bad!
As he written in his goodbye letter that the lack of freinds had forced him to this .(friend's like me starting a family ,and other freind's too and some touring aboard too escape the common people and their ways in the uk).
My point for writing this i seen a lot of young people here some from the uk and lots of other countrys i could'nt even find on a map like where the f*** is finland or belguim? ,so my point is most drug related things are a phase, the way i see it is move on or die. (but canabis is ok

ps: the people this post is intended too know who they are the rest please no negative post's)

Something wrong with the pic, allthough I can guess what it is, I allmost lost a friend who was addicted to drugs(ecstasy,cocaine), not long ago, but we (her friends) manage to get her life back again, dont really know what I want with this thread, maybe to tell that the damn drugs r everywhere and that its killing ppl. no matter what class, nationality or what gender there r.

Btw cannabis is a drug, and its not ok. My friend started with hashish and then moved on to heavier stuff to get the ultimate kick, until one day when she realized that she has become a junkie that she earlier despised. I remember she allways said " I can stop whenever I want to" or "I´m not like others, I can control myself" but still she had to destroy her life for about 3-4 years, cause she didnt wanna stop, she allways wanna live with that rush that came to her head after taking her ecstasy or cocaine.

"So whatever U do, Don´t do drugs!!"

It's a sad story Redeyed, and it's very good of you and your friends that you helped the girl out Erik.

I'm only 16 years old, I DON'T do drugs at the moment, and I will never do drugs in the rest of my life. Drugs are bad. The people who use drugs say: 'I can control myself" or "no need to worrie my friend, i can stop whenever i want".

Those people don't know how wrong they really are. They can't control theirselves, they can't stop whenever they want to. When you tell them this, they won't believe you, till they get in real problems.

I know a lot of people who use drugs. Some of them are my friends. I told them they had to quit, else they'll get in real problems, cause you guys don't know how much they use in one day.

Some drugs are legal in The Netherlands, and I think that's terribly stupid. Drugs should be illegal, everywhere on the entire Planet.

It's like Erik said, and i say it too...

Hmm I’m not really sure what to say here, I have a friend who is only 24 as and is a raging alcoholic (just like Redeye’s friend).

I would like to say, I’m happy that I can call myself his friend, he is a guy of great maturity, and probably one of the most intellectual out of my friends, with great potential to do great things with his life, but he had a some what hard child life and is still continuing with a lot of in-house family problems.

A few months before Christmas he went out and bought over 100 Diazepam and washed them down with a bottle of Jack Daniels.
He or sorry we were lucky that the drugs he had bought were ‘street drugs’ and did not contain the full strength drugs in each tablet.
A few days after this ‘incident’ we managed to get him to a hospital, where he was treated and was able to ‘dry out’

He managed to stay off the drink for a few months, but now is back on the drink, and I can see it all happening again very soon. I worry a lot for my friend, though I’m there for him when ever he needs it, there is not much I can do, expect wait for the inevitable to happen again

Although he has a great circle of friends that wish to support him, everyone feels their hands are tied, because you can’t help someone until they wish to help themselves.

I suppose some of this may be considered drug related, because most of my friends and I use drugs on a recreational only basis. I’m not sure what it’s like in other parts of the world, but in the UK recreational drug use is now common and widely regarded as normal behaviour for today’s youth.

Anyway guys I’m not sure why I have posted this here, and I’m not trying to say recreational drug use is acceptable, but all to often the horrors of drink is swept under the carpet as a taboo of our society.

Peace to the doc for his cool words, if canabis was legal and beer/drink wasnt, i think it would be a diffrent/ safer place to socalise at weekends etc........
Like who do you know who goes out fighting when there stoned :P
Also i disagree that canabis leads to other drugs, in the most the dealer you buy it from leads you to other drugs, unless your in NL which from my understanding has some pretty cool canabis laws

U got a point there Doc, Alcohol is a problem 2. Last summer I worked on ER (Emergency Rescue) and there we met ppl. who wanted to end their life often they have been drinkin, when they have got this bright idea, or ppl. who starts fightin when they r drunk, I´m not meaning that alcohol is worse either but its a drug 2. However we R living in diff. countries wiht diff. laws, here in Sweden everything R forbidden, what concerns drugs except the alcohol, there U got to be 20year to have the right to buy. But its like other drugs u can allways get it even if your minor. I dont really know whats worse alcohol-drinkin teenager or a suicedeal junkie.
Both categories R danger not only to ppl around them but also to themselves.

I don’t really want to make an issue out of this but…

We have the most draconian drug laws in Europe; also we have the highest amount of users of drugs in Western Europe.

Where you’re from ‘the Netherlands’ I think it’s good that drugs (cannabis) is legal.
You have a far lower persons addicted to drugs than us in the UK.
It is time that the governments in Western Europe had a re-think as to their policies on drug culture, as the current system is holy ineffective.

Also people will always take drugs, whether or not they are illegal. ‘Just say no’ campaigns suck (and most of the time have very little affect), the vast majority of ‘youth’ out there will try them anyway. I respect you for saying no, but I know that if you lived in the UK by the time you reached 25 you will very probably have experimented with them.

When I was your age 16-20 Northern Ireland wasn’t the safest place to be, we had the ‘Troubles.’ But something very strange happened, it was ok for both sides of the community to go out together and dance and party together, normally this wouldn’t of happened but for the fact that everyone was ‘loved up.’ It brought together two communities (or sorry their youth) that would not usually meet through fear and hate. This is one positive thing I have to say of ‘Class A’ Drugs (Ecstasy)

Again I must stress that I’m not trying to say recreational drug use is acceptable or I condone it, or …
Nor do I wish to retract anything away from Redeye’s memory of his old pal.

By the way redeye I’m very sad to hear of your old friend, it saddened me deeply to think of the pain that you must have gone through.
Hopefully I will be able to help my friend in the way that Eaglefire has helped his friend, there may be light at the end of the tunnel yet.

I don't really know what to say on this. You got a point there.

About the alcohol. In my family is somebody who is a little addicted to alcohol. I'm talking about my dad. After the deforcement of my parents, he couldn't stop drinking for 2 months. It was horrible, cause he can't stand 1 glass of beer. He's acting crazy as a drunken man. He's very weak and looks terrible.

I know how to handle him. He had the problem again one week ago. He didn't want to have us in his house anymore, so we went somewhere else.

He wanted to end his life too, cause he thought he was a horrible father. We told him how great he could be, if he was normal.

Erik, you're right about the point that they aren't only a danger to us, but also to them selves. My father gets very sick when he has drunken. Sometimes it looks like he's going to die. That's not very easy for us, but what can we do.

My father is OK at the moment. Let's hope he'll stay away from the alcohol for the rest of his life.

It's ok the drug brought you guys together over there Doc. I guess Northern Ireland isn't very safe at the moment. I hear lots of rumours on the television about that part of the UK.

I'm from 20 miles northeast of Belfast, if your ever over again and in Belfast check out the other 'superclub' in Northern Ireland 'Shine' located in the Student’s union building opposite Queens University
